Birds

This is a cardinal that I drew. It is the state bird of seven different states.
Yesterday we learned about West Virginia, and today we learned about Illinois. It is both of these state's birds.
We have learned lots about birds. We have learned about their beaks, their feathers, birds of prey, we figured out why they sing, their habitats, we read a funny poem called "The Owl and the Pussy-Cat" by Edward Lear, and today we learned different symbols for birds. Like, the eagle stands for strength, the owl stands for wisdom, and the dove stands for peace.
I like learning about birds.

  1. Great drawing of the cardinal! I love cardinals, they are so beautiful. Great grandma has them at her house in KS. We had them in WI, but not here in WA. I miss seeing and hearing them. They have a lovely song!
