For Grammar this week I had to write a about a catastrophe in the kitchen. Here is my story.
(this isn't a true story)
A Catastrophe in the Kitchen
One day our family was driving home
from our family vacation in Washington.
After a very long drive we finally got home. Dad walked
in the house first, and a puddle of water came out the door. The kitchen had FLOODED! Mom screamed and everyone panicked. We figured out that someone had bumped the
dishwasher on our way out. We were
doomed!
The next day we ripped out the soggy hardwood, then we figured out that the bottom cabinets were
moldy and we would have to get new ones. We called the cabinet store where we got our old cabinets so they
would match the top cabinets. The cabinet people said
the cabinets that we had had been discontinued, so we would have to get new top
cabinets too. That was a long day.
The next day Dad had some leftover
tile that he had at his equipment yard sent to our house. Then we got a call saying that the truck
carrying the tile went over a big bump and cracked all but two tile. Oh No! Dad said that two tiles would at least save
some money, so they still brought the two tiles. Then some guy dropped them as he was bringing
them to the house. What else could go
wrong?
The next day they finally got the
tile in, and they were bringing the new granite counter tops. I was hoping nothing would go wrong. I jinxed myself! While they were bringing the new granite they
dropped it as they were setting it down.
It shattered into millions of pieces.
Then they wouldn't give us a refund, and it wasn't even our fault. It was the counter top people's fault.
The next day we finally got the new
cabinets installed and new granite counter tops in. We were finally done- at least we thought so. We soon found out that actually we weren't done. The flood ruined all
the appliances. So we called the appliance store, but they
didn't pick up, it turned out it was Labor Day, and they were closed. Go figure.
The next day we called the store
again. They said that they couldn't
bring the appliances till next week! So
we waited, and waited, and waited. It
was terrible; we had to store our food in the church fridge, but we got to eat
out a lot.
Finally, it was the next week, and the appliances
were here. We were
done putting our kitchen back together. Or were we?
